Arising from the necessity to have a high school in Toril after the devastating World War II, Mr. Salustiano Advincula founded the then Davao Central Institute (DCI), now Davao Central College Inc. (DCCI), which opened its doors in 1948, with no more than 76 enrollees from first to fourth year during its opening. It was the first high school in the community. After two separate fires, DCCI proved its resilience and stood the test of time by rising from the ashes and continuing its acceleration in providing Toril a quality high school education.
As a program accredited by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting Agency Incorporated (ACSCU-ACI) since December 2005, DCC – Junior High School Program is at its best in serving the community through the programs it offers which cater students from all walks of life.
Furthermore, Davao Central College also offers the Modified Work and Study Program (MWSP). This program aims to cater the educational needs of working students, regardless of their age, creed, and civil status who wants to pursue their secondary education. The following are the offerings of MWSP:
In support of the institution’s mission to provide integral formation of persons, the DCC – Junior High School Program engage its students in different in and off – campus activities. Through the year’s junior high school students have been participating to the extracurricular activities spearheaded by the school and academic and non – academic contest organized by different government and non-government entities. And as a member of the Davao Association of Private Schools and Administrators, the school has the additional venue for its students to showcase their talents because the said organization lead to different inter-school activities/contest. Clubs and organization are also in place to welcome the students’ leadership skills. It further engage the students to have a community involvement by participating in the community services organized by the program.

In SY 2020 – 2021, Davao Central College Basic Education Department establishes the Flexible Learning Approach as Instructional Delivery that supports the need for student safety and psycho – social health and economical cost – efficiency while still emplacing high standard of education that adheres to the Department of Education Curriculum Guide and Most Essential Learning Competencies.
The DCC Basic Ed Flexible Learning (DCC – BEFL) comprises two instructional modes which families can choose from:
Modified Hybrid Modality – online; synchronous and asynchronous
Home Study Modality – offline, printed learning materials
Both programs entail the best preparation in the designing of the standards and competencies of the learners into seamless modules of learning activities distributed in the given various modalities of instructional delivery. Moreover, all learning activities are chunked efficiently with a constant focus on the learner’s development in mind.
